So the 90s sounds are definitely hip and in full swing again. Yuck are the latest torch bearer of the Sonic Youth meets 00s indie sound with a big touch of guitar tone ripped directly from Siamese Dream-era Smashing Pumpkins. Maybe some Superchunk in there too? So I guess we’re hitting indie from the 90s and 00s with this band. Sounds fine to me.
From the UK, but they don’t necessarily sound UK, although they’ve definitely taken a few hints from My Bloody Valentine. The production is muddy on the vocals and crisp on the guitars. Just the way I like it. Reminds me a bit of the vocals on Post Nothing by Japandroids. You make the call by checking out the “Get Away” video by Yuck below:
